Classic Houndstooth

{Skirt: H&M}
{Blouse/Shoes: Old classics lol}

One of my fav classic skirts this winter. It is a bit limiting in styling since I usually only stick with white and black tops, and sometimes tights, but black and white are pretty classic so I am completely happy with that :D

"Riding" Boots

Finally found some reasonably priced "riding" boots! Yay! Very comfortable, and perfect for gross ick weather lol.

They are a bit less snug in the calf than perfect, but I don't really mind since I will only be wearing them with jeans and sometimes thick knee high socks.

And yes, I need to get my hair cut lol...

Fasion Trends: Plaid Crazy

I. Love. Plaid.

But only certain color combinations lol... it all depends on the pattern.
And it is such a classic look! I think it reminds me of the holiday season.

Specific patterns seem to pop up each year, but investing in a couple of pieces for your wardrobe is definitely a smart fashion forward move.

Plaid shirts are the most available and easy to purchase right now if you just want to incorporate it into your wardrobe simply.

Last year there was an emphasis on red and black, but this season the trend has migrated more toward greens and blues, like these skinny trousers.

I am definitely in love with the green!

A scarf is another easy and affordable purchase, if you just want to get your feet wet.

Work appropriate ensemble! I need a navy skirt, STAT hehe.

Fashion Friday: Rose Gold

{Jeans: H&M}
{Shoes: Payless}
{Bag: F21}

My top is a peasant top I have had for several years.

I literally have a post from 2010 with this same shirt lol! I definitely feel like my fashion style has improved thank goodness. I guess one good thing about aging lol.

Yet another item I have been able to stay in love with and style with the current fashion! For the winter I plan on pairing it with thick knit cream or black cardigan.

Usually my lip makeup is neutral which accentuates the eyes (my personal favorite look) but I think part of being young and female is embracing fun new looks!

I have literally never worn bright lipstick before... craziness! But since everyone is doing it lol, I thought I would give it a shot. Red is pretty popular right now, especially with the arrival of fall, and since I am transitioning from the springish summery color pink, red of course was just around the corner :P

Love the fall!

Wedding Dress Fever #2

... I heart lace. Not gonna lie. I really like the neck line on this dress specifically. I think the back would look much better if she actually had a good backside lol.

Love the back!!! And the lace is really unique which is hard to find...

Wedding Dress Fever

Just a few fun dresses I found, that I actually like lol.
I do not think they would be actual candidates for me, but I thought they were lovely. :)

I really like the detail at the sleeves and trim on this dress. I think it might be difficult though to coordinate any jewelry, and this dress is definitely for someone with larger breasts lol.

I simply love this lace!  Love love love! While the silhouette is divine, I think it might be a bit uncomfortable for dancing and such at the reception... I am pretty sure I will have to find something more like this since I do not have the most voluptuous figure lol, but this mermaid style might be a bit too much. I still love Amber's silhouette the best!

Summer Swimwear!

Ok, soooo. Officially excited for the summer now lol! As women, we all have body image issues, so summer time for me is usually not so very fun. Growing up as a kid in the cold north, in Washington, with all the rain, didn't foster a love of swimming anyway. Its been a very challenging process working on my comfort level since moving here. But fun and forgiving swim suits so help!!!

Target finally came out with some cute push up bra swim suits for those of us in that department, and I am SO happy. A few months ago they only had black which is pretty bla, but recently these are a couple of their new styles.

Of course, with the next few months packed with trips to the beach, the river for tubing, and swimming at the local pool, I immediately rushed over and made the oh so necessary purchase! This is one of the two I bought, just because it was wimsical. Now I just need a great floppy sun hat!

This is the other one I purchased that fit really well. The bottom front and back panels are string tied together.

This paisley suit was actually my complete favorite because of the pattern and color, but the bottoms just were not working at all... Not good unless you are super toned and have no layer of fat at all to be squeezed lol.

Maybe I can buy the top and wear it with white bottoms...?

Future shopping list:
1. White bottoms and paisley top
2. Fun floppy hat
3. White flip flops
4. Cute cover up

Shopping Chic #1

Going out the other weekend, I put together this little ensemble and I think it all works pretty well!

The top I got from Charlotte Rousse about 4 months ago, and the necklace and cardigan from Rue 21 more recently.
I really like the ruffled shoulders and the back is actually all lace... very flirty.

I wore the pearl strings and silver necklace to tie in the white from my flats. They are actually while knitted lace. Subtle pattern but very cute!

Business Casual #1

Using this as more motivation to vary my attire from my usual plaid and jean combo, I am also going to be posting different outfits from my closet.

This one is appropriate for work on fridays, excpet I wouldn't wear the wedge heels. I love these shoes though!!! Perfect peep toe and great support because of the wedge heel.

I think it only works because of the skinny jeans... Any looseness on the bottom would definitely look tacky for sure. Thank goodness I can at least rock those right lol?

Oscars 2010

The last and final celebratory day of festivities for 2009 films has ended. What glorious fun!

The night began with a wonderful win by Christian Waltz for his magnificently memorable performance portraying a villainous nazi in Inglourious Basterds. I was so happy because he realy deserved to win for best supporting actor role.

On to the real reason for the Oscars... Fashion!!! hehehe just kidding of course. But really, the dresses worn last night were by far much better overall than the previous award night shows. It was a wonderfully glamorous affair for sure.

My absolute favorite, which I was excited that I finally had one, was Sandra Bullock's. It was so reminiscent of a wedding dress in the diamond embroidery... yet the shape was perfect for a formal evening dress. It began with the vine embroidery at the top, which then pooled to her feet in a silky liquid silver fabric. Love, love, LOVE!

Did I mention I love bling. Shiny! Just beautiful. And of course, she won her very first Oscar!!!

Next up, Carey Mulligan. I pretty much fell in love with her earrings at first, I have to admit. With the lightness of her hair, I think they not only flattered her dress but also her face. Those earrings were way better than going with a necklace! She so rocked the short do.

The front of her gown actually ended rather short above her shoes, which I also loved. At first I was a bit hesitant but in the end I think the top really balances the bottom. Loved the beading....

Annnnnd, the beautiful Anne Kendrick. Her dress really represented the new spring 2010 colors of blush. Beautiful against her skin tone and hair color. Wonderfully romantic and ethereal I thought. Lovely.

The next dress that I found riveting was Elizabeth Banks. When she walked out to present, I was definitely all eyes on her. The blue was again, perfect for the spring season as well as her coloring, and it was just a fun dress! I could just imagine it swooshing and swishing across the red carpet...

All in all, beautiful dresses, and a wonderful event. Not as entertaining as others, but Steven Martin and Alec Baldwin hosted well together to be sure. Now for next year!

Beautiful People

So I created a list of all the women I think are beautiful, apparently randomly lol.

Scarlet Johansen represents the casual sexiness of a typical american female. Her facial features are so great: beautiful cheek bones, great nose shape, and perfect luscious lips. Arg the envy haha.

Do we have to mention her perfect body shape? She has some meat on her bones, but I think her proportion knows where to put it! Talk about great great body shape...

Kim Kardashian is pretty much the exact same body type with the same facial features. She is like the darkenend dusky version hehe.

Anne Hathaway is my next pick. Her facial features are also rather prominant, but I think she has more of a light friendly look to her. I do love the dark dark hair and porcelain skin!!

If I could have any features I definitely would want dark dark curls with green eyes and porcelain skin.

Finalement, Natalie Portman! Ok, not your typical but she is so cute! She is just a natural wonderful beauty. Very ethereal I guess.

2010 Golden Globes

Yes, I enjoyed a wonderful night of excitement watching the 2010 Golden Globes. This year was not as exciting both cinematically as well as fashion wise, mainly because there really were only a few films nominated that I was rooting for (Inglorious Basterds, Star Trek, 500 Days of Summer...) which I knew weren't going to be winning much. Also, the wonderful evening of friends, formal attire, drinks and appetizers, and humor I envision every year for the award season... wasn't in the cards this year. Luckily, I always have next year so I will be looking forward to that. This weekend are the SAG awards as well, so at least a casual night in with a pizza would be great.

Regardless, here are the winners of Best Dressed. There were really only a very few that I liked, and 2 that I loved. This year was rather lacking really. I also refuse to do a Worst Dressed section.

Emily Blunt had an amazing blushing pink frock as I term it. The back is actually has a wonderful swooping fabric effect that dramatizes the mermaid shape of her dress. The 360 camera of E's really shows this one to perfection, and I loved it! Very classy, girly, and flattering! Congrats on the engagement to John Krasinski as well! So cute...

Next, we have Olivia Wilde, a cast member from House, in a perfectly subdued glitter beaded dress. Sequins are always too harsh, but this night time glitter effect of her's was a great smash, and the cut of the neckline I think is simply elegant. Low cut, but I think she wore it well!

Finalement, Jennifer Garner shows up in this subtle mermaid dress (this style was everywhere), and rather than yards of ruffles and fabric which seemed to litter the runway, hers simply used lines to draw the eye. I thought even though this didn't flatter her figure as much, on someone with more of a waste this really would have been beautiful.

And thats it! Nothing else on the runway really stood out in a great way... many just stood out ill fittingly. Maybe next year the designers will have something better to showcase.

Pin Up Style

Even though I am currently living on a not so glamorous budget, and my priorities have basically destroyed any clothing shopping for several months now, I still enjoy window shopping! The new fascination with the 40s and 50s style incorporated into current trends piqued my interest completely and inspired this entry. The usual pin up style I of course, find sexy, but a pit over the top for every day wear for me.

If I had the curvy body type *coughmariacough* to pull something like this off... you bet I wouldn't hesitate! I would still like to incorporate certain elements of this though into my fashion... looking forward to my next spree so much!
This one on the left is definitely super sexy, but I think would be perfect for a dinner date!! Love the halter neck line and fun polka dots.

I absolutely crave this next one's subtle nautical theme! Instead of throwing anchors over a long sleeved white shirt like I have seen all too often, this carnival striped puffy skirt is soo fun!!! And the pockets! The pockets!! Eeeep hehe!

Those shoes are pretty much to die for (I love when they have that ankle bracelet clasp) and with the bright skirt and boyish denim jacket, its a perfect combo. I can't think of anything more perfect to wear for a fun night out. This is probably the most flirty out of them all.

Now for a more subdued and classic look, this simple dark dress paired with stockings that are so popular right now (and so functional in this weather!), the vintage cap hat that I have seen in almost all the antique malls but haven't snatched up, and the little ankle boots that I have also seen versions of in the shoe stores recently. I am so glad fashion has passed over the horrible 70s and 80s finally and returned to the more flattering styles of the 40s and 50s. I hope some of those elements stick with us in the future...

This outfit would be something to wear out during the day for errands or probably a day rambling about on my own I think. Or maybe on one of my many bus trips as suggested in the photo... I can bring Bowser along hehe.

These next two are ones that are most easily created shopping in current stores like Forever XXI, Charlotte Rousse, and any mall. These skirts are pretty much flattering on any human being lol, unless you are one stuck with more of a disproportionate midsection.

I think it takes confidence and attitude to really pull these off, but so much fun as well! Perfect for a late night date, or an evening out solo.

Finalement, a perfect look for your typical grinding day at the office or simply for achieving a more professional appearance with that splash of attitude. I think the pale blonde hair does it in this one... but I still love the outfit. Very easy to throw together, again.
Ooooo I want to go shopping and then out on the town hehe!! All of these looks are perfect for a day out antique shopping and book browsing as well... which would be my idea of a perfect saturday!
The inspiration just smells good Mmmm! Hehehe.

Zooey Deschanel

I have been in love with her acting since the first performance I saw, and ever since revel in her character renditions. Most obvious are her roles in Elf, All the Real Girls. Hitchhiker's Guide, 500 Days of Summer, Failure to Launch, Tin Man, The Wonderful Wizard of Oz, and finally from what I have seen, The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford. That last was an awesome movie btw...

Her musical performances have been scattered throughout her acting career even though music is her main passion.
Her recent release of Volume One creating She & Him is a throw back to the old jazzy croon songs in our past.
But besides all these accomplishments, I love her fashion sense! She seems to always be able to throw together vintage articles with the current trends successfully and artfully.

Yay for vintage fashion inspiration!

Who has seen a bathing suit of lace? Really now? I would utterly die to have one!

These next shots are just fun and love the attitude.

Did I mention she is married to Ben Gibbard from Deathcab for Cutie?

Ummm, and that she is the sister of Emily Erin Deschanel, the star actress in Bones, one of my favorite television shows of all time?

For realsies people. For reals.
