Fasion Trends: Plaid Crazy

I. Love. Plaid.

But only certain color combinations lol... it all depends on the pattern.
And it is such a classic look! I think it reminds me of the holiday season.

Specific patterns seem to pop up each year, but investing in a couple of pieces for your wardrobe is definitely a smart fashion forward move.

Plaid shirts are the most available and easy to purchase right now if you just want to incorporate it into your wardrobe simply.

Last year there was an emphasis on red and black, but this season the trend has migrated more toward greens and blues, like these skinny trousers.

I am definitely in love with the green!

A scarf is another easy and affordable purchase, if you just want to get your feet wet.

Work appropriate ensemble! I need a navy skirt, STAT hehe.

Fashion Friday: Rose Gold

{Jeans: H&M}
{Shoes: Payless}
{Bag: F21}

My top is a peasant top I have had for several years.

I literally have a post from 2010 with this same shirt lol! I definitely feel like my fashion style has improved thank goodness. I guess one good thing about aging lol.

Yet another item I have been able to stay in love with and style with the current fashion! For the winter I plan on pairing it with thick knit cream or black cardigan.

Usually my lip makeup is neutral which accentuates the eyes (my personal favorite look) but I think part of being young and female is embracing fun new looks!

I have literally never worn bright lipstick before... craziness! But since everyone is doing it lol, I thought I would give it a shot. Red is pretty popular right now, especially with the arrival of fall, and since I am transitioning from the springish summery color pink, red of course was just around the corner :P

Love the fall!

Fashion Friday: Bubble Gum Pink

{Tights, Sweater, & Shoes: Rue 21}

I think I just wanted to wear my tights again hahaha. I still need to play around with other ways to wear the skirt though. I have had that skirt for a few years now, and am so happy it has stayed fashionable! I am getting better at picking pieces that are more classic thank goodness, and then just accessorizing with current things (like tights haha).

Fashion Friday: Foxy Leather

I think the red in my hair is showing lol.

{Boots & Bag: Ross}
{Skinny Jeans: Rue 21}

Freezing weather, yet again! This is seriously my only oversized sweater, which is insane because I would live in them and leggings my whole life if I could lol. Definitely hoping to get some comfy casual sweaters for the upcoming winter months.

Fashion Friday: Stormy Weather

{Skirt: H&M}
{Tights: Rue21}
{Purse: F21}

Since the cold front came in and I got to wear tights and a coat, I am soo in love and wish I could commit to winter wear irrevocably, even though we have gone back to 80 degree weather. Its difficult because the A/C is so low in the office, dressing for the warm outside weather ends up making it freezing during the work day... dilemmas dilemmas.

I don't think there will be many days left without wearing sweaters and tights though. Very excited for the coming winter!

P.S. I LOVE my polka dot tights! They make me squeal in happiness inside lol.

Chunky Circle Stitch Scarf

Ah for the love of crocheting.

This was such a fast enjoyable project to make! It took me about a week, but only about 3 evenings really.

And it only cost $7! That is always a plus hehe.

Here is the pattern source:

 The first couple of rows I did incorrectly, so I had to sort of go back and try to camouflage it lol. Otherwise, I love how it turned out. It's lays really comfortably and is so warm! I am a Cowl Convert now lmao.

I seriously heart my new cowl.

Find it on ravelry!

Fashion Friday: Peachy Keen

This is sooo a Sunday Brunch Outfit lol.

{Dress and Heels: H&M}
{Cardigan: F21}

It is bright and happy and makes me feel chipper. Pretty soon it will be all tights, scarves, and hevay knits though, so trying to take advantage of the warmer weather while I can!

Fashion Friday: Twenties Twilight

{Lace Top: F21}
{Blazer: H&M}
{Pillbox Purse: F21}
{Shoes: Payless}

My go-to black dressy heels. They have a bit of a platform so the actually arch is very minimal and they are super confortable to stand and walk in for hours at a time. And I just love the way they look...  :D

Lace top is one of my favorites from a couple years ago. Classic 20's style lace.

And I added a pop of color just for funsies!

Fashion Friday: Rose Petal Pink

God I hate trying to take pictures of myself. So freaking annoying.

Anyway, this is suppose to be a motivating positive weekly post lol, so I will switch gears! I am trying to get back to doing this post every week again, despite my lack of a tripod or photographer lol. Or a good camera. One day, I am sooo getting a DSLR.

One day...

This is one of my fav outfits for work! Mainly because of the color combination... its very girly lol.

{Shirt: Forever 21}
{Skirt: Charlotte Russe}
{Heels: H&M}

 I won't lie, I really loved finding these heels! I stand and walk a lot at work, so comfortable cute heels are a huge plus point for me; wearing 6 inch platform pumps are a bit difficult to carry off painlessly lol.

These are a suede material, and I actually scotch guarded them lol. I learned that trick from a fellow blogger, Heritage Knitting, and it really has been very useful!

{These pictures are really crappy, I know. I will be attempting different things in future lol}

New Vanity Addition

Yet another Pinterest idea turned reality. These are a couple of ways to display jewelry I found, and decided to create my own version.

See, I HAVE been busy lol. Since moving and unpacking and organizing everything, I am trying to get everything done just right the FIRST time, so I won't have all these projects in the back of my head heckling me. They really do heckle me lol.

I actually love the tree idea (I would do more of an all white version) but I ended up going with the more conservative version instead. Its just more classic and goes with my room in its entirety.

I just purchased an empty frame from Hobby Lobby, painted it white (they didn't have the dimensions I needed in white), and that was it! Yet another easy storage solution!

I discovered I have a theme going; apparently I love pearls lol.

Thank goodness for costume jewelry! I am glad my personal tastes haven't changed over the past few years and I have been able to maximize the value of my purchases. Its not something you think about when you are young, but as I have gotten older I have spent more time trying to focus on purchases that I know I will love and use over many years, rather than buying something I will only value temporarily. Such an important Style Rule!

Its never stylish to waste money lol.

Professional Fashionista

I'm finally free!!! From scrubs that is. Woot! Evil soul crushing paper garments. Ick.

I finally decided to go professional at work and dump the scrubs, even though I knew I would have to spend a bit of money creating a work appropriate wardrobe.

It was just so frustrating having to spend $65 dollars on one set of scrubs, made from crappy material, that never fit. I spend less money on clothes that I actually LIKE. And it didn't look very professional at all having to wear clothes that were way to big because apparently everyone who wears scrubs is freakin massive. Anyway, thank god thats over. Now I get to indulge in colors I love every day!!!

So for now, the basic sillouhettes include:

1. Skinny jeans, loose top, *optional blazer/cardigan*, heels/flats
2. Waist high pencil skirt, loose tucked in blouse, *optional cardigan*, heels
3. Wait high wide leg trousers, tucked in blouse, heels
4. Dress, cardigan/blazer, heels
5. Classic trouser, tunic blouse, heels

It's definitely different trying to dress in a semi-professional environment, but I think I am doing a pretty good job of blending that and my own personal style. :D

Oversized Sweaters Fight the Winter Chill

Pinned Image

As winter slowly creeps into the bones of the earth each year, vague memories of snuggling in a blanket on the couch, sipping a steaming cup of coffee, and reading a new novel seem to permeate my mind in anticipation of the season to come.

Now that spring is replacing those hours of quiet stillness with joyful bursts of sun, I am shedding a few tears in honor of this past winter's most popular fashion staple, the oversized sweater.

Whether pairing it with skinny jeans, or some neutral tights and a skirt, this was by far my favorite fashion item for the winter. Boots, scarf, and messenger bag required!

Here's to hoping next season sees a recurrence!

Zooey Deschanel

I have been in love with her acting since the first performance I saw, and ever since revel in her character renditions. Most obvious are her roles in Elf, All the Real Girls. Hitchhiker's Guide, 500 Days of Summer, Failure to Launch, Tin Man, The Wonderful Wizard of Oz, and finally from what I have seen, The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford. That last was an awesome movie btw...

Her musical performances have been scattered throughout her acting career even though music is her main passion.
Her recent release of Volume One creating She & Him is a throw back to the old jazzy croon songs in our past.
But besides all these accomplishments, I love her fashion sense! She seems to always be able to throw together vintage articles with the current trends successfully and artfully.

Yay for vintage fashion inspiration!

Who has seen a bathing suit of lace? Really now? I would utterly die to have one!

These next shots are just fun and love the attitude.

Did I mention she is married to Ben Gibbard from Deathcab for Cutie?

Ummm, and that she is the sister of Emily Erin Deschanel, the star actress in Bones, one of my favorite television shows of all time?

For realsies people. For reals.
