Masterpiece Mondays!

*drum roooooooooooll*

Tada! The first of many posts to follow, featuring a sketch or finished work! This is mainly to motivate me in my artistic evolution hehe.

This weekend I completed this drawing, which is part of a two piece installment. I won't go too much into detail about this until next week when I have the set complete, since obviously they are meant to display together.

This was pretty fun to work on though! It started out just sort of sketching the satin tie to practice fabric textures (and come on, whats more fun than satin and silk?) and ended up expanding into a concept lol. Love and relationships are just inspirational I think.

I am planning on going to Kinko's to allow me to actually scan the image, since my little phone camera is rather deficient in pixels lol. It definitely does not delineate the detail of the pencil, which simply will not do for printing purposes. Oh, and I need a photobox lol.

Can't wait to show the match to this one!

Lasagna, My Way

The first actual recipe/meal in several months! Ahhh the single life.

I randomly got on a kick to make lasagna, thinking to improve upon a century old recipe. Alas, it tasted like... lasagna lol. Quelle surprise.

INGREDIENTS:

  • Garlic
  • Portabella mushrooms
  • Roasted red bell peppers
  • Italian hot sausage
  • Fresh spinach
  • Marinara sauce
  • Mozzarella, ricotta, and parmesan cheeses
  • Noodles
I was uber excited about this recipe because of the ingredients, and while still in the saute pan everything tasted great! Then the tomato sauce joined in and sapped out all the delectable flavor. The spinach was a plus though, and I will keep that in the mixture fo sho!  My next plan involves Trying more of a white cream sauce instead to bring out the flavor of the vegetables. Maybe some roasted chicken rather than sausage?

Its so friendly! And conducive for work lunches lol.

Ballroom Dancing Diva

Ok. This has nothing to do with Dancing With the Stars. I have never seen that show lol.

But!, since college attending a few free dance sessions at our gym, I have wanted to learn to ballroom dance. I finally took lessons! When I signed up for Groupon the first ticket I received was for 8 lessons focused on the Waltz, Fox Trot, and East Coast Swing which I of course jumped on.

I am so happy I did! I think the hardest part of the whole experience, was trusting the man to lead... especially when he sometimes gets off the music or jumbles his "hints" up lol. Its definitely a lot easier to listen to his body when he actually knows what he is doing.

In the end, if you are able to let his body guide your movements, it so much more of a relief not having to make the decisions lol! Wonder if that says anything about our new-found independence as women with respect to our relationships hmmm?

The Waltz was the easiest and probably the most fun I would say. AND the music is played a lot more often.

The Fox Trot was more interesting as a dance, but I didn't really like that as a female you end up dancing basically backwards the whole time...Kinda weird.

Swing I was expecting to be the most fun... but man is it hard! Whew. Talk about working up a sweat lol. I think I'm going to leave that to the enthusiasts lol.

Isn't Frankie cute! Ah the good ol' chauvinistic days lol. Just kidding girls! ;P
