So another wonderful reread experience. The actual writing isn't wonderful or the plot, but what kept me flipping the pages so desperately was the monumentally moving beginning piece describing two soulmates meeting, and then being plucked out of time to be seperated. I know I can cry pretty easily by something emotional like this, but the heart wrenching sobs these first few pages ellicited were quite sudden and unexpected. Searching the next 600 pages for some assuagement of this horrifying sadness kept me motivated throughout. The disparate table scraps of clues dropped intermittently as well as Page 463 were well worth the wait, and I am on to the sequel now, driven by the same longing.

Dark Cloud

The first game I have played since... 2007. Because of the constant pounding rain that finally let up this morning, I enjoyed an entire weekend of carefree gaming and coffee! Maybe some physics meshed into the mix, but I haven't pulled an allnighter like that in sooo long.


Fun game; I will probably buy the sequels as well and hopefully they only get better.


Yet another example of my inner nerd.

Crappy Cover = Crappy Book?

After my trip to Half Price last weekend, I started reading Aurian, which I had previously read in high school and remembered enjoying, in order to be able to read Harp of Winds, one of the new books I picked up.

I read the entire thing and feel horrified I thought at one point this book was ever interesting. The first 7 chapters are good and then any attempt at characterization and plot just simply fails. Once I started the second book, hoping at least this one might validate my purchase, I was again sorely disappointed.

Lame book as well.

In this instance, judging the book by its cover would have been a wiser choice on my part.

New Bathroom

Ok. So I went to the bookstore to grab some coffee and enjoy the beautiful smell of newly printed books last weekend. Then, innocently indulging in my curiosity, I wandered into the Bed Bath & Beyond next door planning only on window shopping of course. Naive moi.

I ended up leaving with a new shower curtain, towels, a dining room table (which was an excellent find!) and the euro sham pillows I have been needing for the past two months.

So much for being frugal.

On the other hand my bathroom now has a great feel that really accentuates the bedroom as well. The black decor on the shower curtain is actually soft velvet! The mirrored hooks I already had but reflect light much better contrasted against the darker curtain :)

Inglourious Basterds

So this movie was insane.

Amazingly mind blowing, and insane.

Christoph Waltz did the most amazing job at playing his character, the Nazi Jew Hunter, Col. Hans Landa. I know publicity has been focused all on brad pitt who also did a wonderful job in the film, but Christoph Waltz hands down kicked ass.

Chapter One of the film not only kept me completely engrossed in the scene playing out before me but set the stage for the entire following two hours with no dissapointment. The plot unfolded gradually and the ending left me utterly emotionally satisfied.

I officially cannot wait for Quinten Terentino to create another film. This movie for sure will blow out oscar night. AMAZING!
